I was going to use today's post to talk about Sunday's Super Bowl.
The commercials.
The Beyonce.
The complete lack of Tom Brady (Insert End Zone Happy Dance here).
But then I decided that maybe kicking Patriots fans when they're down is not the best use of my energy. No matter how much fun that might have been.
So instead, I want to try something new.
Last week, I saw a post on a friend's Facebook page proclaiming the day "Pay It Forward Friday." As we all know, I'm not above stealing good ideas, so today, I want to direct your attention to a nifty little organization that needs your help. It's called Kids Club of Jefferson County. It's located here in Oregon. Madras, to be specific. And provides hundreds of local kids with a safe place to go after school. Not to mention a hot meal, help with homework, and tons of activities to get kids engaged in science, art, and other educational pursuits.
They serve a cash-strapped area, and rely primarily on donations and grants to keep the doors open.
That's where you come in. The organization is asking for $5 donations -- Yep, about the cost of a Pumpkin Spice Latte -- to help them help kids. So far, they've raised just over $1,200. Mostly in $5 or $10 or $50 increments.
Let's help them double it. I'll match the first $50 in donations (it's like you're giving double). Who's with me?
Just click on the link.
Still not convinced? How about a pep talk?
Be on the path that leads to awesome.
