Lacock

I spent my Saturday in Lacock. And yes, I am snickering like a 12-year-old boy as I type that. Seriously, who comes up with the names over here?

Anyhoo, you'll remember from our "Choose-My-Adventure" weekend a few weeks back that Lacock was the runner-up (out of two) in our poll. This little village often doubles as a movie set. In fact, the movies of two of my favorite books (Pride & Prejudice and Harry Potter) were filmed here, so obviously I had to check it out.

I started the day off with a Pumpkin Spice Latte (what else?) and a series of bus rides. Lacock is just a few miles from Chippenham, which is just a few miles from Bath, so naturally it took two hours to get there.

It was already late-afternoon by the time I arrived, so I hightailed it over to the Lacock Abbey. I'm sure there are lots of fascinating things to tell you about the Abbey, but to be honest, I was there for one reason and one reason only:

Look familiar? If you answered "Hey, isn't that Hogwarts?" then you're absolutely correct. It's much smaller than it looks on film. Small enough, in fact, it's likely other visitors will hear you when you're pretending to be Hermione and say "Expecto Patronum." Just as an example of something I totally didn't do.

I spent the rest of the afternoon just wandering around Lacock, snapping photos and exploring it's hidden alleys and shops. I didn't go into this bakery. It was closing time. But it looked cute and fun and they advertise with this bicycle, so it's probably worth a stop if you visit.
